An International recruit from the United Kingdom, Ji joins a loaded squad for 2024.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State Women's Golf has announced the signing of Herry Ji, an incoming freshman hailing from New Malden in greater London who will join the program as a true freshman starting in 2024.
"We're very excited to have Herry joining us at Long Beach State," said Head Coach Alyssa Waite. "Coming from an International golf culture in England, she's bringing a different playing and practicing style to the Beach. She is motivated to grow in golf and play a part in what we are building here."
An active and accomplished youth player in the United Kingdom, Ji finished in the Top 10 in a pair of U16 championships in both the Midlands and England at large in 2022, placing eighth overall after two strong rounds of 68 and 67 at the England Championship. Competing at a higher age level over four rounds at the U18 England Girls Championship, she placed 20th overall with a final round 71, and this past year took 32nd overall at the Scottish Girls Open Championship, finishing the year with a stroke average under 78 on the year.
She was also the champion at the 2023 South Region Stroke Play competition with scores of 74 and 70 and was the Individual Medalist at the Burhill Championships, starting strong with a two-under par round of 70.
Ji joins one other recruit for the 2024 season, as Long Beach State previously announced the addition of Division III All-American Hannah Jugar from the University of Redlands as a transfer.
