Forster will come to the Beach as a junior transfer from Southeastern Louisiana
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State Head Men's Golf Coach Rob Murray has announced his first signee in junior transfer Charlie Forster.
"Charlie adds a wealth of experience to our roster and will push the top of our lineup," said Murray. "Charlie had a great year winning Player of the Year in the Southland Conference and we look forward to welcoming him to the Beach."
Forster will come to Long Beach State from Southeastern Louisiana where he was named Southland Conference Player of the Year becoming just the sixth player in program history to earn that honor. A native of Winchester, England, Forster had an outstanding sophomore campaign as he finished as the runner-up at the Southland Conference Championships on his way to posting six Top 10 finishes this season. For his efforts, Forster was named to the All-Southland Conference First Team as well as to the All-Tournament Team.
This season, Forster recorded a conference-low 71.48 stroke average. After winning the individual title at the Derek Dolenc Invitational, he was named Southland Conference Golfer of the Month. He fired a season-low round of 64 to open the Colin Montgomerie Invitational in March.
In his freshman season, Forster earned All-Southland Conference Second Team honors after averaging a 74.22 stroke average over 18 rounds. He finished in the Top 3 at the Southland Conference Championship leading the Lions to the league championship. Forster finished in the Top 15 on four separate occasions and shot a season-low 67 in the first round of the Nicholls Intercollegiate.
Forster will join an already talented Long Beach State roster for the 2023-24 season.
