The Dirtbags and Trojans game on May 2 will be played in Anaheim at the home of the Los Angeles Angels.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State's midweek matchup against USC will be played at Angel Stadium on May 2. The news was announced in collaboration between the two programs on Wednesday.
The Dirtbags and Trojans will play in Anaheim with USC serving as the dedicated home team. First pitch for the Tuesday night matchup will be at 6 p.m.
This will be the 134th time the two programs will face each other in program history, but just the fourth time they will be on a neutral field. The other three neutral site games were at the 1995 NCAA Regional hosted by Fresno State.
In Long Beach State history, the May 2 contest will be the tenth game played at a major league stadium. The first three were in 1996 when the Dirtbags played at the Kingdome, former home to the Seattle Mariners, the next three were in 2004 at Petco Park, home of the San Diego Padres, and the most recent time was in 2011 at AT&T Park, home of the San Francisco Giants. In those nine contests, the 'Bags own a 5-4 record.
As part of that 2004 tournament at Petco Park, Long Beach State and San Diego State faced each other in front of a crowd of 25,175 people which ranks as the sixth highest attended single-game in NCAA regular season history.
Tickets for the game are $25 and exclusively sold through the Angels. They include one (1) voucher to an Angels game this season. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by clicking HERE.
