No. 4 Seed Long Beach State Falls to No. 1 Seed Hawai’i at The Big West Semifinals

The season comes to a close after falling to the Rainbow Wahine in the semifinals.
SAN DIEGO, Calif. – No. 4 seed Long Beach State Women's Tennis fell to No. 1 seed Hawai'i 4-0 in The Big West Semifinals at the Barnes Tennis Center Friday afternoon.
Long Beach State concludes their 2022-2023 season after finishing the year as the No. 4 seed in the Big West Conference and reaching the semifinals of The Big West Championship.
The Beach finished the season with an 11-10 overall record while Hawai'i improved to a 13-7 overall record. The Rainbow Wahine will face No. 2 seed Cal Poly in the final round for The Big West Championship.
To begin the second day of The Big West Women's Tennis Championship, Sheena Masuda and Justine Dondonay got the first win of the day in doubles action, beating Klara Novakova and Rita Pinto, 6-2. However, on courts two and three, the Beach fell short in capturing the doubles point. Peppi Ramstedt and Rhona fell by a score of 6-4 to Ana Vilcek and Nikola Homolkova on court two. Securing the doubles point for Hawai'i on court three, Madison Kim and Satsuki Takamura picked up a 6-4 win over Mathilde Tranberg and Hana Becirovic Novak.
Starting on court three in singles action, Cook fell to Takamura, 6-1, 6-1. Shortly after Takamura's win, Kim Madison beat Justine Dondonay on court six in straight sets as well, 6-1, 6-1. With both singles victories, the Rainbow Wahine extended their lead to 3-0.
LBSU's Sarah Medik battled on court one against Ana Vilcek. To potentially extend her match to three-sets, Medik fell short in her second set, 6-4, before dropping the first set, 6-0. Clinching the win, Vilcek earned Hawai'i's final point ending the match, 4-0.
