Gementera, Hagenah Named Big West Pair of the Week

The freshmen pair were undefeated on a perfect weekend for the Beach.

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Malia Gementera and Taylor Hagenah have been named the Big West Pair of the Week. The conference office announced on Monday.

The freshmen pair went undefeated to lead the Beach to a perfect 4-0 weekend at home this past weekend.

Competing in the third flight, they started the weekend with a straight set victory, 21-15 and 21-17, over Texas. In their first dual with No. 16 Stetson on the weekend, they overcame a first set loss to comeback and take down the Hatters, 18-21, 21-14, and 15-7.

On Saturday, they clinched the dual for LBSU with a straight set win (21-11, 21-12) against Utah before closing out the weekend with their third straight-set win (21-16, 21-14) against the same Stetson pair.

For the season, they now own a team-leading 12-4 overall record and have won five straight duals.
