
Jaden Huggins Leads the Beach After Round One at Competitive Bandon Dunes

Bandon Dunes Golf Course extreme difficulty strikes due to weather as Long Beach State sits in 10th place
BANDON, Ore. – Freshman Jaden Huggins led the Beach in the opening round of the Bandon Dunes Championship finishing tied for 16th, shooting 3-over par. As a team, Long Beach State sits in 10th place after shooting 20-over par, 12 shots behind first place.
Bandon Dunes is known for being a tough course, but the weather conditions during the round today added to its difficulty. Only four golfers in the tournament finished round one under par.
Huggins finished the round with one birdie and sits five strokes back from first place. Following close behind Huggins is No. 19 Ian Gilligan, who finished the round at 4-over par and tied for 24th. Gilligan sank three birdies on the day.
Senior Isaac Rodea is tied with his Beach teammate Gilligan finishing the opening round with a score of 76 and two birdies on the back nine.
Freshman Jack Cantlay coming off a third-place finish, was held to 9-over par. Tied with Cantlay is sophomore Steven Deutsch. They both are tied for 76th.
Boise State sits on top of the leaderboard at 8-over par, followed by No. 28 Oregon in second place at 11-over.
