Beach Tennis Falls to LMU

LBSU come up short at LMU Tennis Center, 1-4.
Los Angeles, Calif. - Long Beach State (2-1) Women's Tennis got off to a strong start by winning the doubles point, but Loyola Marymount (3-4) rebounded to take all six singles matches to grab the 4-1 victory at the LMU Tennis Center.
"I am very proud of our doubles performances today," said LBSU Head Coach Jenny Hilt-Costello. "We have identified some areas to work on in singles."
The dual match got off to a great start in the doubles action with Peppi Ramstedt and Rhona Cook defeating Sofia Munera and Isabella Tcherkes-Zade, 6-4. The doubles point was clinched by Sarah Medik and Hana Becirovic Novak as they defeated Anna Paradisi and Stefania Rogozinska-Dzik, 6-2.
On the season, the duo of Ramstedt and Cook have obtained a 5-0 record. Ramstedt also improved her individual doubles record to 12-3 to lead the team.
During singles play, momentum shifted in favor of LMU. The Lions evened the score as Eva Marie Voracek beat Doga Akyurek 6-0, 6-2 at court three.
In court four, Sofia Munera defeated Ramstedt 6-2, 6-3 giving LMU a 2-1 lead.
On court five, Anna Paradisi got the best of Justine Dondonay as she picked up a 6-2, 6-4 win extending the Lions' lead to 3-1.
To secure LMU's victory, Stefania Rogozinska-Dzik obtained a victory over Mathilde Tranberg on court two, defeating her, 6-3, 6-0 while giving LMU the win over Long Beach State, 4-1.
Continuing with singles action, Veronika Miroshnichenko defeated Medik in court one in a close back-and-forth match. In a three-set thriller, Medik just came up short, falling by a score of 6-2, 5-7, 10-6.
On court six, Sheena Masuda fell short in a three-set match as well. After Masuda won the first set, 6-2, Isabella Tcherkes-Zade came back to win the next two sets 6-1, 6-3.
The Beach return home at Rhodes Tennis Center on Saturday, February 18 at 12 p.m. when they take on San Diego State.
