Long Beach State Men’s Volleyball Hosts Alberta In Pair Of Exhibition Matches On New Year’s Eve

The Beach host the Golden Bears at the Walter Pyramid on Sunday, Dec. 31 at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – As the 2024 season rapidly approaches, LB Nation will have an opportunity to see the Long Beach State Men's Volleyball in a pair of exhibition matches at the Walter Pyramid on Sunday, Dec. 31. The Beach will take on Alberta at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., on New Year's Eve.
Both admission and parking for the two exhibition contests will be free of charge.
Beach Men's Volleyball returns four starters in All-Americans Aidan Knipe, Sotiris Siapanis, Simon Torwie, and Clarke Godbold, plus senior All-American libero Mason Briggs, from last season. Long Beach State also adds seven newcomers to the squad.
Knipe, Briggs, and Siapanis were named to the Big West Preseason Coaches Team, while the Beach was picked as the preseason favorite to win the conference.
Briggs and Siapanis, along with Torwie and Godbold were selected to Off the Block's Preseason All-American Team heading into the 2024 season.
Long Beach State is coming off a solid 2023 campaign in which the Beach complied a 21-5 overall record and advanced to the NCAA Final Four for the sixth time in seven seasons. LBSU concluded the year ranked fourth nationally.
The Beach are led by legendary head coach Alan Knipe who enters the 2024 season as the program's all-time winningest coach with 393 wins and a .703 winning percentage. Knipe is flanked by a top-notch staff which includes associate head coach Nick MacRae and assistant coach McKay Smith, who were just named VolleyballMag College Coaching Hotshots.
Long Beach State will open the 2024 season on Friday, January 12 against Long Island. First serve is set for 7 p.m. The match will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
