
Long Beach State To Host First Five LA Sparks Games In 2024

The three-time WNBA champions will start their season in Long Beach due to renovations at Crypto.com Arena.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Following the announcement of the schedule for the 2024 WNBA season, Long Beach State is excited to renew a partnership with the Los Angeles Sparks to provide a temporary home for the team inside the Walter Pyramid to begin the season.
The Sparks will play the first five games of the season at the Walter Pyramid, an arrangement made due to construction at Crpyto.com Arena. The first of those five games will come on Wednesday, May 15 in the team's season opener against the Atlanta Dream.
"We're thrilled to welcome back the Los Angeles Sparks to the Walter Pyramid," said Long Beach State Executive Director of Athletics, Bobby Smitheran. "The Beach and the Sparks have always had a close relationship, and we're excited to once again showcase one of the premier women's basketball teams in the world at Long Beach State."
After the season opener, the Sparks will play four more games at the Walter Pyramid. First on May 21 will be the Washington Mystics, then two games in three days on May 24 against the Indiana Fever and May 26 against the Dallas Wings. Finally, a Commissioner's Cup in-season tournament game will be the last game scheduled inside of the Walter Pyramid on June 5 against the Minnesota Lynx.
