11/7/2023 10:32:00 AM | Cross Country

The teams will head up to Sacramento this Friday to race against teams from across the West Coast.

LONG BEACH, Calif.— The Long Beach State Cross Country teams will compete in the NCAA West Regionals hosted by Sacramento State at the Haggin Oaks Golf Course this Friday. The Women's 6K will start at 10 a.m. followed by the Men's 10K at 11 a.m.

The Men's team has had a consistent season, with multiple newcomers setting the pace. Sophomore transfer Mario Tavares led the team early in the season and edged into the All-Time Top 10. Freshmen Cameron Rhone and Brandon Day also had great debuts for the Beach in their first collegiate season, as both have been consistent scorers for the team. Towards the end of the season, senior Quinn Garity stepped up to lead the team at the Highlander Invitational and Big West Championships.

The Women's team has had an outstanding season with multiple standout runners like Allie Scimia, who has led them all season. She is a model of consistency, placing in the Top 15 runners at every race this season. Her teammates also aided in the successful season. Ailene Rios and Leia Jones transferred to the Beach and were solid competitors throughout their first season. Louise Stonham, a true freshman from Canada, also had a tremendous first season with the team as she scored for the Beach in almost every race this season.
