Scimia and Rhone Turn in Top Long Beach State Times
SACRAMENTO, Calif.-The Long Beach State cross country teams concluded the 2023 campaign Friday at the NCAA West Regional.

The action on the Haggin Oaks Golf Complex began with the women's 6k race. Allie Scimia turned in the top LBSU individual performance as she finished 90th (in the field of 256) at 21:00.4. Louise Stonham was next for The Beach in 93rd (21:05.9).
Ailene Rios recorded a season-best time of 21:13.9 to come in 106th. Marikay Schwab ran 21:35.6 for a 125th-place showing. Leia Jones came in 132nd (21:40.8), while Maddie Franco finished 148th (21:54.2). Alyssa Tapanes was the final Long Beach State entry as she placed 204th (22:44.3).
As a team, Long Beach State finished 18th (541). Stanford (77) was the team champion. Kaylee Mitchell of Oregon State (19:08.4) was the individual medalist.
The men's 10k race was up next. Running a 10k for the first time, freshman Cameron Rhone led The Beach, running 31:02.4. Junior Mario Tavares charted a career-best 10k time of 31:18.2 to come in 97th.
Quinn Garity's 31:18.7 was 98th. Redshirt sophomore Will Frankenfeld established a 10k-best of 31:23.2 to finish 104th. Redshirt junior Jay Brown entered his first 10k and placed 140th (32:04.1).
Kyle Reden's 32:32.8 earned him a 154th-place showing in his first 10k appearance. Cristian Martinez also ran a 10k for the first time. The junior recorded a time of 33:03.8 to finish 170th.
Long Beach State finished 21st (515) as a team. Stanford (73) was the team champion. The Cardinal's Ky Robinson (28:55.6) was the individual winner.
