The Beach hit .395 as they cruised to their eighth-consecutive victory, and seventh-straight sweep at the Walter Pyramid

LONG BEACH, Calif. – It was a special day at the Walter Pyramid as the Long Beach State Women's Volleyball team took on Cal State Bakersfield and celebrated their four seniors in Tia Chavira, Nicole Hoff, Katie Kennedy, and Hanna Lesiak. The Beach made the most of it with a 3-0 [25-18, 25-19, 25-15] sweep over Bakersfield as they extended their winning streak to eight.

Long Beach State (18-6, 12-2 Big West) hit .395 in the contest, while holding Cal State Bakersfield (6-20, 2-12 Big West) to a .120 attack percentage. The Beach kept the Roadrunners off balance and never allowed them to score more than 19 points in a single set.

Zayna Meyer continued to run a balanced offense as she moved the ball around, but also contributed offensively herself recording five kills on eight swings for a .625 attack percentage. Meyer would go on to finish the match with 33 assists, six digs, and one block.

In addition to Meyer, four other Beach hitters recorded at least five or more kills on the night. Leading the way was junior outside hitter Elise Agi who posted 11 kills on her way to recording her fourth-straight match with double-digit kills. Agi also added six digs, two blocks, and a pair of assists.

Adding to the Beach's high-octane offense were Livi Narancich and Lesiak who each knocked down eight kills. Narancich was on fire as she hit .615 connecting on 13 errorless swings. Lesiak was efficient turning in a .357 (8-3-14) clip, while also logging five digs, a career-high four aces, and three blocks.

Junior middle blocker Kameron Bacon rounded out the scoring for the Beach with six kills on 11 swings without committing an attack error on her way to hitting .545. Bacon also led Long Beach State at the net with five blocks.

Anchoring the defensive efforts was junior libero Savana Chacon who concluded the match with 11 digs to mark her 17th contest this season in which she has recorded double-figure digs.

Hoff came in off the bench and made several key plays in the backcourt, while Chavira also provided a quality substitution for Long Beach State in all three sets.

Long Beach State controlled most of the match from the start. The Beach opened the first set and took a quick 4-2 lead over the Runners. A block assist by Kennedy and Agi sent the game to the media timeout as LBSU led, 15-12. The Beach broke the game open with a 4-0 run jumping out to a 23-16 advantage, before closing the first set on a block assist from Bacon and Agi to win 25-18.

The Beach got off to an early 4-0 lead in the second set and never looked back. Long Beach State hit .379 in the frame as they led throughout. A 5-1 run capped with back-to-back kills from Meyer gave LBSU a 13-7 edge and forced Bakersfield to call a timeout. Agi's kill sent it to set point (24-19), and Kennedy closed it out with a kill of her own to win 25-19 and give the Beach a 2-0 match lead.

Set three was much like the second. Long Beach State got off to a 5-1 lead and never trailed. Lesiak found her groove and knocked down four of her eight kills in the frame, while serving up three aces, to help the Beach to a 14-8 advantage over Bakersfield. LBSU scored seven-straight points during Lesiak's serve in which she served up back-to-back aces and helped Long Beach State open up a 10-point lead (21-11) over the Runners. From there, the Beach cruised to a 25-15 win as Hoff passed it off to Chavira who set up Meyer for the match-winning kill.'

Cal State Bakersfield was led by senior Ava Palm who finished with eight kills in the match, while adding six digs, and one ace. Ella Erteltova and Nene Hawkins teamed up at setter and posted 12 and 11 assists, respectively. Meanwhile, libero Grace Moss logged seven digs, while Sophia Bertotti Metoyer, Breklyn Pulling, and Samia Bhakta each put up a pair of blocks on the defensive end.

Long Beach State will conclude the regular season with four-straight road matches. The Beach, which currently sit in second place in The Big West standings, will face first-place UC Santa Barbara on Friday, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m., before taking on fourth-place Cal Poly on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 7 p.m.
