Two Long Beach State Women’s Soccer Players Named All-Region

Cherrie Cox Named First Team; Maddie Perez Selected Third Team
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Long Beach State's Cherrie Cox was named 2023 first-team United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I All-West Region on Nov. 28.
The 2023 Big West Offensive Player of the Year, Cox led the Big West in goals with 13 and points with 30. She was named first-team All-Conference in 2023 after being named 2022 Big West Freshman of the Year. Cox was named Big West Offensive Player of the Week in 2023, a league-high two times.
2023 marks the second year in a row that a member of The Beach was named first-team All-Region (Lena Silano, 2022) and is the 13th time since 1984 that a Long Beach State player has received first-team All-Region honors.
Maddy Perez earned third-team All-Region honors for the second consecutive season. Perez scored once and posted two assists but played an essential role on a Beach backline that allowed 30 goals in 20 games played. The 2021 Big West Freshman of the Year, Perez was named first-team All-Conference for the third consecutive season.
The United Soccer Coaches All-Region teams feature 11 standouts across the three teams this year, with one goalkeeper, three defenders, three midfielders, and four forwards for 33 honorees representing the All-West Region. United Soccer Coaches will name its 2023 All-Americans for NCAA Division I women's soccer on Dec. 1.
