The Beach hit .372 in the match as Katie Kennedy and Abby Karich lead the offensive attack

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Long Beach State Women's Volleyball team extended their winning streak to four as they rolled over Cal State Fullerton in straight sets, 3-0 [25-16, 25-13, 25-16] on Saturday night at the Walter Pyramid.

The Beach (14-6, 8-2 Big West) have now won seven of their last eight matches, while the Titans (1-18, 0-10 Big West) extended their losing streak to 12.

Long Beach State was led by redshirt sophomore setter Zayna Meyer who dished out 30 assists to lead the Beach to a .372 attack percentage. Meyer evenly distributed the ball getting a pair of players in double figures. Katie Kennedy led the offensive attack with 11 kills on an impressive .529 attack percentage (11-2-17), while Abby Karich knocked down 10 kills, while hitting .350 (10-3-20). Natalie Glenn was also efficient with eight kills on a .438 clip, while Meyer herself added five kills on a .444 hitting percentage (5-1-9).

In addition to her team-leading 11 kills, Kennedy also led the Beach in blocks with seven. Glenn, meanwhile, contributed four blocks at the net, while Meyer, Kameron Bacon, and Elise Agi each recorded two.

Libero Savana Chacon finished the match with six digs, five assists, and one ace, while defensive specialists Jenna Giambi and Nicole Hoff added three and two digs, respectively.

Long Beach State controlled the match throughout as the Beach never hit lower than .325 in a single set. The first set saw LBSU register 17 kills on 40 swings with just four attack errors. Even more impressive, the Beach boasted an 82% sideout percentage in the frame.

The first set was close early on, but the Beach quickly jumped out in front on a 6-1 run (14-9). The Beach continued to chip away and put distance between themselves as the Titans as they extended their lead to nine (21-12) after a kill from Agi. From there, LBSU cruised to a 25-16 win.

The Beach opened the second set scoring three-straight points. However, Cal State Fullerton managed to fight back and take an 8-6 edge, as LBSU called a timeout. The break allowed the Beach to regroup as they came out and went on a 5-1 run to regain the lead, 11-9. Seven-straight points highlighted by Chacon's solid serving broke the game open, 18-10. Long Beach State never looked back, as the Beach closed the set on a 5-0 run capped by a block assist from Kennedy and Karich to win 25-13.

LBSU posted their highest hitting percentage in the third set (.444), while matching their sideout percentage from the first set (82%). Chacon once again led the Beach on a serving run as the hosts went up 14-7 on a 9-1 run. The seven-point lead freed the Beach up as they held the advantage the rest of the way securing a 25-16 win to complete the sweep.

Cal State Fullerton was limited to a mere .013 attack percentage and none of their hitters scored more than five kills on the night. Aubrey Beaver led the way with five, but was forced into a negative attack percentage (-.042). She also tied for the team lead with six digs and led the way with two aces. Ryleigh Garis collected 16 assists, while libero Nadia Koanui finished the match with four digs.

Long Beach State looks to extend its winning streak as it heads to UC Riverside on Thursday, Oct. 26 for a 6 p.m. contest at the SRC Arena.
