Long Beach State Wraps Up the Women’s Cross Country Regular Season

Nealis Lowers Her Personal Best by 1:30
FULLERTON, Calif.—The Long Beach State Women's Cross Country team wrapped up the regular season Friday evening at the John Elders Invitational on the Cal State Fullerton Campus Course.
FINAL RESULTS
Senior Lakely Nealis led The Beach with a personal-best 5k time of 18:19. Nealis lowered her PR by one minute, 30 seconds to place 17th overall. Mackenzie Hack was second among the LBSU team, coming in 36th in a time of 18:54.7.
Kendall Harrison recorded a personal-best 5k performance of 19:03.3. Harrison dropped her best by 4/10's of a second to finish 40th. Elani Huntley went 19:40.4 to be fourth among the Long Beach State team and 58th overall.
Natasha King's 19:50.5 earned her a 66th-place showing. Sofia Bailey made her season debut, running 24:16.7 (126th). In her LBSU debut, Victoria Plummer was the final scoring Long Beach State entry as she ran 25:33.8 (129th).
In her first cross country meet for The Beach, junior Tayah DeSousa ran 27:42.8 (133rd), while freshman Alexa Camacho posted a 28:03.5 (134th).
As a team, the Beach finished fifth (130) as UC San Diego (52) won the women's team race. Casey Monoszlay of the Valor Track Club was the individual winner (16:59.1).
Long Beach State did not compete in the men's competition.
Next for both programs are the 2023 Big West Cross Country Championships next Friday. Cal Poly hosts the championships at the Blacklake Golf Resort in Nipomo, Calif. The event will start with the Men's 8K race at 8:30 a.m. and conclude with the Women's 6K race, scheduled for a 9:15 a.m. start. The awards ceremony will follow the conclusion of the women's competition. ESPN+ will show highlights of the day at 3 p.m. on Friday.
