After consecutive historic seasons, Lena Silano’s career will continue with the Washington Spirit in the National Women’s Soccer League.
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Lena Silano is heading to the professional ranks after being selected by the Washington Spirit in the NWSL Draft on Thursday night. She was the 34th overall pick, having her name called in the third round.
The Agoura Hills native ended her Long Beach State career with back-to-back historic seasons on the pitch, etching her name all over the program record books. With virtually all of her stats coming in her junior and senior seasons, she registered the most multi-goal games in LBSU history with eight, ranks fifth in game-winning goals with 10, seventh with 27 career goals, and seventh with 64 total points. Her 16 goals last year tied the single-season program record while the 38 points was third most. She also recorded the ninth hat trick in program history and tied the most points in a single-game (7) with three goals and an assist against UCSD this past season.
A highly decorated career, she was a two-time All-West Region selection, two-time All-Big West First Team selection, and capped it off as the 2022 Big West Offensive Player of the Year. She also garnered five Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week honors as well as four Big West Player of the Week honors.
Silano gives Long Beach State back-to-back years with a NWSL Draftee following Kaitlin Fregulia's first round selection in the 2021 draft.
