
Three Beach Volleyball Freshmen Named AVCA Junior All-Americans

The trio of Taylor Hagenah, Malia Gementera, and Kate Stoughton have been earned All-America honors heading into their LBSU careers.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – The trio of Taylor Hagenah, Malia Gementera, and Kate Stoughton have been named Junior All-Americans by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. The news was announced on Thursday by the AVCA offices.
Hagenah was a First Team selection, Gementera was a Second Team selection, and Stoughton was an Honorable Mention.
Hagenah is a Carlsbad native that played club with the Tamarack Beach Volleyball Club for four years. This past May she traveled to France where she represented USA and won the gold medal at the ISF Gymnasiade. She was also a two-year letterwinner and All-Region Second Team selection in indoor volleyball at Mission Vista High School.
Gementera comes from Chula Vista where she played indoor volleyball at Eastlake High School. On the beach, she competed in the 2022 u19 Beach World Championship Trials this past June. As a member of the 692 West Beach Volleyball Club, she also played in the 2021 BVCA National Championships finishing in the top ten of the u18 division.
A New Jersey native, Stoughton played five years with the Stars and Stripes Beach Volleyball Club in Point Pleasant, NJ. Serving as the Team Captain, she competed in the AVP Beach Week Juniors Tournament as well as won the bronze division of the 2019 u16 BVCA National Championships. In her indoor career at Brick Memorial High School, she was named Shore League Player of the year all four years of her career.
