Roy was a First Team All-Big West selection in 2012.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Dedication paid off in a big way for Kevin Roy, who finished in the Top 25 of this year's Korn Ferry Tour and earned his PGA TOUR Card, securing his spot in the top level of professional golf worldwide.
Roy was a 2012 graduate of Long Beach State and had a phenomenal season in his last year at the Beach, placing in the Top 10 in six tournament that season, earning First Team All-Big West honors.
A senior leader on one of Long Beach State's strongest ever teams, the 2012 squad finished second at the Big West championship but still received at-large selection into the NCAA Regional Field, where they finished 8th overall, the highest finish ever among Long Beach State's four team NCAA Regional appearances.
At that tournament, Roy shared the second-highest finish for the Beach, and placed above then teammate and now current PGA TOUR colleague Xander Schauffele who at this moment ranks fifth in the World Golf Rankings.
By securing his tour card, Roy joins a list of elite former greats at the Beach. Former Master's Champion Mark O'Meara, Mike Miles, Paul Goydos and John Mallinger are the only other players to finish their careers at Long Beach State to play on the PGA TOUR, while Mike Diette played on the Canadian Tour, now called PGA Tour Canada.
