Four Long Beach State Women’s Tennis Players Earn All-Big West Conference Honors

Nikola Homolkova, Zara Lennon, Sheena Masuda, and Peppi Ramstedt each took home All-Conference accolades .

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Big West Conference announced the Women's Tennis All-Conference Team and Long Beach State had four players earn accolades. Leading the way, Nikoloa Homolkova was the lone First Team representative as she earned the honors in singles. Zara Lennon picked up All-Second Team honors in singles and doubles with partner Sheena Masuda. In doubles action, Homolkova and Peppi Ramstedt collected Honorable Mention status.
 
The Beach, whose roster was comprised of seven freshman out of eight players, had half its team recognized with Big West awards on Wednesday afternoon.
 
Homolkova, a freshman from Pelhrimov, Czech Republic led the young Beach squad this season as she turned in a 10-9 record at flight one in singles en route to being named to the All-Big West First Team. Overall, she won 18 matches in her rookie season, with 10 wins coming during the dual season and eight during the tournament season. She garnered five Big West Conference wins in singles action.
 
In doubles play, Homolkova was partnered with fellow freshman Peppi Ramstedt, who came to the Beach from Helsinki, Finland. Together the pair earned Big West Honorable Mention status. The duo played at flight two and posted a solid 9-3 record on the year, while going 5-2 in Big West Conference action.
 
Lennon, the lone senior on the team, concluded her Long Beach State career as a Big West Conference All-Second Team honoree in singles. The native of Grand Bay, Mauritius was solid for the Beach at flight two as she posted an impressive 10-1 record. She concluded the season on a 7-0 winning streak, which included her 100th career-victory. Overall, Lennon posted a record of 17-10 as she won 10 matches in dual action, and seven contests in the tournament season. She led LBSU to a 5-2 Big West Conference mark.
 
In addition to being named to the All-Big West Second Team in singles, Lennon along with her doubles partner Sheena Masuda collected All-Big West Second Teams in doubles as well. Masuda, a freshman out of Hong Kong, China joined Lennon on the court and the duo posted a 14-4 record at the flight one. The pair went 16-6 overall and 8-1 in Big West Conference action, closing the year with four-straight victories.
