Hannah Ko places in the Top 10, seventh overall at 11 over for the tournament.
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – Winds played a big role in the final day of the Big West championship, as Long Beach State came away in fourth place overall, while Hannah Ko finished in the Top 10 in the final tournament of the year for the Beach.
Ko was the top finisher for Long Beach State in the tournament, taking seventh place overall at 11-over par after three rounds. Sophomore Vanessa Richani was just outside of the Top 10 in a tie for 12th place at 16-over, while Angelina Kim was just behind her in a tie for 14th overall in the tournament.
Hunter Pate was the low finisher on the day for the Beach with a final round 77, while true freshman Kristina Ponomarva was two strokes back with a 79 on the day in her second round after coming on as an alternate to replace an injured Chloe Carraway. No team finished under 300 as the San Luis Obispo Country Club offered a true challenge on the final day.
Long Beach State's streak of individual medalists was snapped as Kaylyn Noh of Cal Poly took the individual championship by three strokes, the only player in the 46-player field to finish at even par. Cal Poly won the team championship in a playoff with Hawai'i.
