RIVERSIDE, Calif. –
Savannah Tucker came off the bench and scored a career-high 20 points for Long Beach State as the Beach's rally came up just short on Saturday night at the SRC Arena as UC Riverside came away with a 66-61 win over LBSU.

Long Beach State closes out the regular season with a 19-7 overall record and a 12-6 Big West Conference mark. UC Riverside extends its winning streak to seven games as the Highlanders improve to 13-10 on the year and 10-6 in league action.

LBSU will head into the Big West Conference Tournament as the No. 3 seed and will face No. 6 seed UC Davis in the Quarterfinals on Wednesday, March 9 at 8:30 p.m. at the Dollar Loan Center in Henderson, Nev.

UCR opened the game on a 7-0 run and never looked back as the Highlanders led the Beach the entire game and never trailed. Long Beach State battled, but was never able to overcome a slow start.

LBSU connected on just 2-of-13 field goals to shoot 15.4-percent from the field in the first quarter. The Highlanders, meanwhile, jumped out in front 20-5 after shooting 53.3-percent from the floor.

The Beach cut the Highlanders' lead to single digits (25-17) but UC Riverside jumped back out to a double-figure lead and held a 35-22 advantage at halftime,

Riverside opened the third quarter on an 8-2 run to extend its lead to 19 (43-24) at 7:29. However, Long Beach would not quit. The Beach chipped away at the Highlanders' lead and whittled it down to 10 (50-40) at the end of the frame.

Long Beach State continued to chip away in the fourth quarter and managed to make it a three-point game (62-59) with just 1:12 remaining thanks to a layup from Tucker. However, the Beach could not complete the comeback as they eventually dropped a 66-61 decision to the Highlanders.

Tucker led all scorers with 20 points as she connected on 6-of-8 field goals, sunk one three, and made 7-of-8 free throws.

Jasmine Hardy finished the game with 15 points, while Maddi Utti logged 11 rebounds, eight points, four assists, and two steals.

UCR was led by Matehya Bryant's 17 points, while Jada Holland added 14, and Keilani Cooper contributed 12.
