Katie Burd Joins The Beach As Assistant Athletics Director For Financial Services

Burd has extensive Division I experience in the financial side of athletics.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State Athletics has announced that Katie Burd has been hired to serve as an Assistant Athletics Director of Financial Services. Burd will manage the fiscal operations of the athletic department budget, and will additionally be responsible for the development and implementation of policies and procedures to coordinate the fiscal resources for Long Beach State.
"Katie is joining the Beach at a very exciting time. We believe her innovative ideas and command of large and complex public school budgets and finance will be a true asset to us," said Tiffany Edlin, Long Beach State's Senior Associate Athletic Director/SWA. "We are excited to welcome her and her family to our Beach family."
In her role as the primary steward for Long Beach State's finances, Burd will provide leadership and management relative to the budget to help ensure that the department's short term and long term goals are monitored, reviewed and met. Burd will also help to ensure that Long Beach State's finances work in accordance with rules and regulations set forth by the University, the Big West Conference as well as the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA.)
Burd comes to the Beach after spending four years working at the University at Buffalo in a similar role. As the Assistant Athletic Director for Internal Operations at UB Athletics, Burd managed the day-to-day financial operations for a $35 million dollar budget, was responsible for improving efficiencies and internal controls, oversaw the annual audit and supervised the business operations team.
Prior to working at Buffalo, she worked as an internal auditor at the University of Michigan after working in the intercollegiate athletics department for over five years in a variety of administrative roles. She also spent two years as the Director of Championships and Special Events at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) from 2009 to 2011.
