Beach Tennis Suffers Loss Against San Diego

Long Beach State struggles to gain traction against San Diego on their 2nd day of road matches.
SAN DIEGO, CALIF. - The Long Beach State Women's Tennis team battled San Diego on Saturday, but came up short, falling 7-0 on the road.
Long Beach State drops to 1-3 overall, while San Diego improves to 3-1 on the season.
During the doubles competition, it was a quick win for the Toreros with Elisabeth Goldsmith and Solymar Colling defeating Sheena Masuda and Zara Lennon, 6-0 in the first flight. Claudia De Las Heras and Victoria Kalaitzis were victorious over Claire Le Du and Zuzanna Szczepanska, 6-2, at flight three as the Toreros took the doubles point.
In singles play, San Diego continued their momentum with flight two earning the first singles point, 6-0 and 6-2. In flight five, Claudia De Las Heras beat Claire De Lu 6-3 and 6-3.
San Diego claimed all six sets, but the young Beach team didn't go down without a fight. Nikola Homolkova lost to Solymar Colling in a tiebreaker in flight one, 6-2, 6-7, and 1-0.
In flight four, the match was clinched with Jordyn McBride coming out on top over Arina Babkova 6-2 and 6-1.
The Beach return to Big West action against UC Riverside on Friday, Feb 18 at 1:30 p.m. at the Student Recreation Center Tennis Courts. The match will be broadcast live on ESPN+
