Tori Harris finished with a career-high for the second straight game, scoring 22 points on the road at UC Riverside.

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Long Beach State harried UC Riverside into 22 turnovers which the Beach turned into 28 points, helping push LBSU to a big first half lead that carried them the rest of the way in a 73-62 win over the Highlanders in Riverside.

Tori Harris had another big night for Long Beach State (7-5, 2-0 Big West). The senior scored a career-high 21 points against UC San Diego two nights ago, and then topped that performance on Saturday, scoring 22 points on 7-of-11 shooting to lead the Beach in scoring on the night.

That scoring effort was complemented by a complete performance from junior Kristina Jeskeova. Jeskeova matched a career-high with six steals, and also had 15 points, seven rebounds and a pair of blocks, providing a strong defensive presence and helping turn those steals onto points on the night.

UC Riverside (2-10, 0-2 Big West) scored the first basket of the game, but Malia Bambrick answered and the Beach quickly pushed out in front, shooting 52.9 percent in the first and scoring 26 points, including 12 off of turnovers while taking an 11-point lead. In the second, Bambrick scored eight points and Harris had seven as the Beach continued to push, taking their largest lead of the night of 21 points before leading by 19 at the half, 43-24.

The Highlanders made their big push in the third quarter. Holding the Beach to just six points in the quarter, a 9-0 run to start the quarter helped keep UCR within striking distance. A pair of Jordan Webster free throws cut the lead to nine in the final seconds of the quarter at 51-42.

Jeskeova scored on the first possession of the fourth quarter to settle the Beach. Riding Webster, who finished with a game-high 28 points, the Highlanders would continue to hang around, but never came closer than  within six points, and two critical late baskets from Harris and Bambrick helped the Beach take a second straight road win to begin Big West conference action.
Long Beach State will return to the Walter Pyramid next week for their conference home opener when the team hosts CSUN. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 5 as the game will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
