HONOLULU –
Long Beach State saw its nine-match winning streak come to an end at SimpliFi Arena at the Stan Sheriff Center as Hawaii defeated the Beach in straight sets [24-26, 18-25, 18-25] on Friday night.

The Beach (15-7, 10-4 Big West) posted 12.0 total team blocks, while hitting .202 with 39 kills. However, the Rainbow Wahine (15-6, 12-1 Big West) controlled the serve and pass game with seven aces and 51 digs, while limiting Long Beach to 37 digs and four aces, while the Beach committed 11 service errors.

Senior middle blocker Callie Schwarzenbach led the Beach at the net as she posted eight total blocks, including four solo stops. Sophomore middle blocker Kameron Bacon added four blocks of her own, while redshirt junior outside hitter Morgan Chacon posted three as did sophomore outside hitter Natalie Glenn.

Chacon led the Beach offensively with 13 kills on a .209 clip, while adding five digs and an ace. Glenn and Bacon each contributed eight kills in the match. Bacon's eight came on 16 errorless swings as she hit a team-best .500 in the contest.

Redshirt freshman setter Zayna Meyer paced the Beach as she distributed 34 assists to go along with seven digs.

Senior libero Dylan Dela Cruz led the back row with 13 digs marking her 21st double-figure dig performance of the season.

The Beach started off strong as they hit .278 in the opening set and played the Bows through 18 ties and eight lead changes. The close game saw Long Beach leading 15-12 at the media timeout, but Hawaii would come back and even the score at 16-all. After the Bows took a 19-18 edge, LBSU countered and tied things at 22-22 on a kill from Chacon. Chacon struck again to send it to set point, 24-23, but Hawaii closed the set with three-straight points to win 26-24.

After edging the Beach in overtime in the first set, Hawaii seemed to find its groove as the Bows hit .310 in the second set, while holding Long Beach to a .143 attack percentage. UH opened up a 21-13 advantage, but Long Beach State would not quit. The Beach chipped away and managed to make it a four-point game (22-17) forcing a Hawaii timeout. Following the break in action, Long Beach closed the gap, making it a three-point game (22-18). However, the Beach's comeback was cut short as Hawaii closed the set with three-consecutive points to win 25-18.

Trailing two sets to none, Long Beach State came back to the court and opened the third set with a block by Bacon and Glenn. However, Hawaii would quickly turn things around as the Bows took a 4-2 edge. The Beach continued their fight and made it a 7-6 game after a kill from Katie Kennedy. That would be as close as Long Beach would get as Hawaii used a 5-0 run to break the game open, 14-8. The Bows led the rest of the way en route to winning, 25-18.

Freshman Caylen Alexander led the Bows with 11 kills, while Riley Wagoner added nine kills on a .308 attack percentage. Setter Kate Lang finished the match with a double-double as she posted 29 assists and 11 digs. In the backrow, the Bows had three players reach double-figures. In addition to Lang, Kendra Ham led the way with 12 digs, while Wagoner added 10.

Long Beach State continues its road swing next week with matches at CSUN and UC Santa Barbara on Friday, Nov. 11 and Saturday, Nov. 12, respectively. First serve for both contests is set for 7 p.m., and will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
