NORTHRIDGE, Calif. –
Everything was working for the Long Beach State Women's Volleyball team on Friday night at Premier America Credit Union as the Beach hit a season-high .333 as they rolled passed CSUN in straight sets [25-22, 25-16, 25-18].

Long Beach (16-7, 11-4 Big West) led the Matadors (7-20, 2-13 Big West) on both sides of the ball en route to their 10th win in 11 matches. Offensively, the Beach knocked down 46 kills to the Matadors' 27, while hitting .333 to CSUN's .135, and posting 45 assists to 27. On defense, LBSU recorded 45 digs to CSUN's 32, while serving up seven aces to the hosts' three. At the net, both teams put up 6.0 total team blocks.

Senior libero Dylan Dela Cruz led the defense effort in the backcourt with 25 digs marking the most digs she has recorded in a three-set match in her career. It is also the most digs a Big West player has logged in a three-set contest this season. Dela Cruz now brings her season average to 4.45 digs per set. On the night, Dela Cruz also contributed five assists and two aces.

Pacing the Beach's balanced offense was redshirt freshman setter Zayna Meyer who dished out 36 assists to go along with five digs, three kills, two aces, and one block.

Capitalizing on Meyer's solid passing were sophomore outside hitter Natalie Glenn, redshirt junior outside hitter Morgan Chacon, and freshman middle blocker Rhiann Sheffie. Glenn led the Beach with 13 kills, just one off her career-high, on a .478 attack percentage (13-2-23), while Chacon added 10 kills on a .304 clip (10-3-23). Making her first career start, Sheffie tallied six kills on seven errorless swings to hit a whopping .857 in the match.

The trio added to Long Beach State's solid showing as Glenn recorded five digs, two blocks, an assist, and an ace. Meanwhile, Chacon registered five digs, two blocks, and two assists, while Sheffie put up two blocks and one dig.

The Beach started out strong hitting .483 in the opening set, however, the Matadors also turned their highest attack output of the night with a .333 clip. With both teams playing strong, the first set remained close until the conference foes found themselves tied up at 20-all. A kill from Glenn broke the tie and jump-started a 5-2 run for the Beach. Despite two called timeouts from CSUN, LBSU never wavered and earned a 25-22 win on a kill from Glenn.

The second set was all Long Beach as the visitors held CSUN to a .000 attack percentage. The Matadors knocked down five kills, but were forced into five attack errors. Meanwhile, LBSU hit .233 with 13 kills. The Beach broke a 12-12 tie on a kill from Chacon and held a 15-12 lead at the media timeout. From there, Long Beach State used a 9-1 run to close out the set, winning 25-16.

With a 2-0 set lead, Long Beach posted an 83% sideout percentage in the third set, while hitting .297 and holding CSUN to a .122 attack percentage. The Beach took a 7-6 lead on a block from Sheffie and Meyer and never looked back. Long Beach State led the rest of the way cruising to a 25-18 win as Glenn put the game and match away with her 13th kill of the night.

CSUN's Nicole Nevarez and Carisa Barron each recorded six kills. Barron split setter duties with Kaia Kanan as the two registered 14 and 13 assists, respectively. Kanan and Navarez, along with libero Breanna Mitchell all logged seven digs, while Lauryn Anderson led the team at the net with three blocks.

Long Beach State will be back in action on Saturday, Nov. 12 at UC Santa Barbara. The Beach and the Gauchos' match is scheduled for 7 p.m., and will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
