The Beach wrapped up tournament play and obtained nine total victories.

LONG BEACH, Calif. - LBSU Tennis wrapped up the final day of competition at the Beach Fall Invitational on Sunday. The Beach captured six victories in singles play and three victories in doubles play.

Freshman Doga Akyurek was crowned champion in her respective white singles bracket. She defeated Sofia Dermenjyan of CSUN, with a score of 6-3, 6-2. That is back-to-back titles for Akyurek in the last two days and a perfect 6-0 record in this weekend's tournament. She has now obtained singles and doubles tournament titles to start her young career at Long Beach State.

In singles action, the Beach had seven athletes competing in consolation matches. However, after Akyurek's title victory her energy became infectious towards her teammates. This sparked the team to end the tournament on a great note and obtained a 6-2 singles record.

Sheena Masuda defeated Nour Khayat of UCI in a tight match resulting in a 7-5, 6-2 score. Sarah Medik finished off Titan's Zoe Olmos, with a score of 6-3, 6-2. Peppi Ramstedt continued her success and defeated Megan Tagaloa of CSUF. She improved her overall weekend record to 5-1. Getting into the fun as well, Mathilde Tranberg defeated Haily Huynh in a thrilling two set flight, winning 6-2, 7-5.

In gold doubles action, Dondonay and Medik defeated Buhr and Deaifi of GCU, with a score of 6-4 while LBSU's duo of Tranberg and Becirovic Novak finished off Tagaloa and Huynh, with a dominant score of 6-1.

Masuda and Cook competed in a keen highly fought flight, but unfortunately came up short falling 3-6 in their finals match. However, Cook continues to progress from her abdomen injury and looked fluid in her signles match despite the loss.

Continuing with doubles play, the pairing of Akyurek and Ramstedt dominated this weekend in the white doubles bracket. They defeated O'Neill and Dermenjyan of CSUN and improved their doubles record to 3-0.

LBSU Tennis will be back on the court in less than two weeks in San Diego at the ITA Southwest Regionals on Oct. 20-23.
