DAVIS, Calif. –
The Long Beach State Women's Volleyball program hit a season-high .294 en route to winning their six-straight contest with a 3-1 [20-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-16] victory over UC Davis on Saturday night at the University Credit Union Center.

With the win, the Beach improve to 12-6 overall and 7-3 in The Big West, while the Aggies drop to 8-12 on the year and 3-7 in league action. UC Davis has now lost six contests in a row.

The Beach were efficient at the serving line as they tied their season-best with 12 aces, while not committing a service error in the match. LBSU was led by Zayna Meyer and Morgan Chacon who each served up four aces, while Savana Chacon tallied three, and Tia Chavira added one. Meyer's four aces marks a new career-high for the redshirt freshman setter.

In addition to her outstanding serving, Meyer also dished out 46 assists, five digs, four kills, and two blocks, while hitting .667 (4-0-6). She did a solid job distributing the ball as four Beach players recorded double-figure kills.

Morgan Chacon led the double-digit kill bunch with 15 kills to go along with six digs, two assists, and one block. Meanwhile Callie Schwarzenbach and Victoria O'Sullivan knocked down 13 kills each, while Katie Kennedy added 12. Schwarzenbach's 13 kills came on an attack percentage of .435, while she added three blocks. O'Sullivan's 13 kills marked a new season-high for the senior outside hitter. Kennedy turned in a .357 clip, six digs, and one assist.

The LBSU defense was stout as senior libero Dylan Dela Cruz led the way with 23 digs marking her 17th double-figure dig performance of the season, and her seventh match with more than 20 digs. Adding to the defensive charge in the backrow were Savana Chacon (13 digs), Jaylen Jordan (8 digs), Morgan Chacon (6 digs), and Kennedy (6 digs).

After dropping the first set, 25-20, to UC Davis, Long Beach State regrouped and stormed back. The Beach hit .313 in the final three sets (51-15-115) and kept the Aggies off balance to take sets two, three, and four.

UC Davis started the second set off on a 4-0 run, but it didn't take Long Beach State long to go on its own run as the Beach strung together five-straight points to take a 5-4 edge. LBSU used another 5-0 to extend its lead to 10-5, as the Aggies called a timeout. Despite UC Davis staying close, even tying the score at 18-all, Long Beach State kept its composure and won the set on back-to-back kills from Morgan Chacon, 25-23.

With the match tied at one set apiece, Long Beach State hit .300 (18-6-40) in the third frame as the Beach used a 5-0 run to break the game open, 15-8. The Aggies did what they could to chip away, but LBSU held the lead the rest of the way as the Beach claimed a 25-19 win to take a 2-1 set lead.

The Beach opened the fourth set up on a 3-0 run, but the Aggies were quick to counter and even things up 3-3. However, another 3-0 run would put Long Beach up for good as the Beach pushed their lead up to five (15-10), before a UC Davis timeout. LBSU rattled off five-straight points to take a commanding 20-13 advantage, before closing out the set and match with a 25-16 victory.

During the match, Long Beach State freshman middle blocker Rhiann Sheffie made her collegiate debut as she saw action in two sets and recorded a pair of kills to hit .250 (2-1-4) in the match.

UC Davis was led by Jade Light and Demari Webb who finished the match with 18 kills each. Light hit .341, while Webb posted a .304 clip. At setter, Casi Newman concluded the night with 45 assists, while Shira Lahav, the squad's libero, had a 26-dig showing. Julia Ng also recorded 12 digs, while Lana Radakovic posted five blocks at the net.

Long Beach State looks to continue its winning ways at home when the Beach host CSU Bakersfield at the Walter Pyramid on Friday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. The match will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
