Cross Country Wraps Up Regular Season at Titan Invite

Long Beach State’s final tune-up before The Big West Championships took place down in Fullerton.
FULLERTON, Calif. – The Beach Cross Country team competed in the John Elders Titan Invite hosted by Cal State Fullerton on Friday afternoon. It marked the final meet of the regular season before The Big West Championships next weekend.
Women's 5K Results | Men's 8K Results
The group of student-athletes was smaller than normal taking a week of rest after competing in Santa Clara last weekend. Friday afternoon saw the cross country debut of five women while only two men competed.
Dani Van Fossan, the newest Beach student-athlete led the pack for Long Beach State, placing 50th and running a time of 19:14 in the women's 5K. Nataly Toledo followed behind with a time of 20:05 leading Long Beach alongside Van Fossan.
Nyah Chavez and Kendall Harrison were next across the line recording times of 20:21 and 20:39, respectively.
Not normally a part of the cross country competition, Sofia Bailey, Alex Heerink van Breda, Hailey Fune, and Allison Bryan all made their cross debuts on Friday to round out the scoring.
For the Men's 8k, Damien Maldonado placed 67th out of 201 runners with a time of 26:21 alongside Antonio Muñoz who wasn't too far behind of Maldonado placing 87th with a time of 26:43.
Westmont and The Master's tied for first in the men's race, both finishing with a combined score of 46 points, while Valor track club won the women's with a combined team score of 23. The Long
Beach women would place 13th in the 5k collecting 349 points.
Long Beach State will head to the Big West Championships next week on Oct. 29th hosted by UC Riverside.
