LONG BEACH, Calif. –
The Long Beach State women's volleyball team closed out the LBSU Tournament on a strong note as the Beach earned a 3-0 sweep [25-23, 25-17, 25-22] over Portland State on Saturday evening at the Walter Pyramid.

The Beach (3-3) finished the match with two all-tournament team selections in Kashauna Williams and Kasia Partyka, while the Vikings (1-4) had Parker Webb as their honoree.

Williams led the Beach for the sixth time this season as she tallied 11 kills to lead all scorers. She junior outside hitter also added six digs and two blocks in another solid showing. Partyka earned her first-ever all-tournament team selection after piloting the Beach to a .228 attack percentage off of 26 assists. The freshman setter also contributed five assists, four blocks, and three digs in an all-around effort.

Long Beach State dominated at the net posting 11.5 total team blocks as the Beach were led by freshman middle blocker Kameron Bacon. Bacon finished the match with a career-high seven blocks, while senior outside hitter Avery Nelson added five.

Holding it down in the back row was sophomore libero Nicole Hoff who collected 14 digs. Freshman outside hitter Erykah Lovett added seven digs, while posting six kills, and serving up four aces.

The first set between the Beach and the Vikings was close, with Portland State holding a slight edge over Long Beach State for most of the frame. However, LBSU's grit earned the Beach the win as they scored three-straight points to take a 21-20 edge. From there, the Beach pushed it to set point and won the game on a kill down the line from Williams, 25-23.

The Beach opened the second set with a 6-3 lead, but Portland State used a 4-0 run to take a 9-8 lead. Long Beach State chipped away and took a 15-11 advantage on a kill from Williams that prompted a Vikings timeout. The Beach led the rest of the way as they cruised a 25-17 victory.

With a 2-0 set lead, Long Beach State found themselves down 3-0 early. But the Beach battled back and evened the score at 10-10, before taking a 16-14 lead on a kill from Lovett. LBSU and PSU kept the game close and the two teams found themselves knotted at 22-all. A block by Bacon and Nelson set the Beach to match point and a big swing from Nelson ended the set and match as LBSU came away with a 25-22 win.

Portland State was led by Webb who finished the match with eight kills, 10 digs, two assists, and one block. Gabby Hollins also added eight kills of her own, while Ellie Snook logged 14 digs. Ally Wada distributed 24 assists, while posting four kills, five digs, two aces, and a block.

Long Beach State will hit the road next week to complete in the Cougar Challenge hosted by Washington State. The Beach and the Cougars will face off on Thursday, Sept. 9 at 6 p.m., before LBSU closes out the tournament against Gonzaga and Northern Iowa on Friday, Sept. 10 at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m., respectively.
