LONG BEACH, Calif. –
Freshman Erykah Lovett served for 12-striaght points in the third set to open up the game for Long Beach State as the Beach rolled over Cal State Fullerton in straight sets [25-22, 25-21, 25-8] on Tuesday night at the Walter Pyramid.

Lovett's solid serving paced the Beach (7-7, 1-2 Big West) as they limited the Titans (4-6, 1-2 Big West) to just eight points in the final set and a .077 attack percentage in the match as LBSU hit .345 with 12.0 total team blocks.

The conference foes opened up the game going back and forth, but the Beach tallied three-straight points to take a 16-13 lead in the first set. Despite Cal State Fullerton making it a one-point game (21-20), Long Beach State finished strong and took the first set, 25-22.

After five ties and two early lead changes, Long Beach State went on a 5-1 run in the second set to take a 12-7 lead that they would never relinquish. The Beach led the rest of the set and put the game away, 25-21, to take a 2-0 set lead over the Titans.

Cal State Fullerton opened the third set with a 2-0 lead, but that was short-lived as Long Beach State sent Lovett to the line and she served for 12-stragiht points as the Beach went on a 12-0 run to lead 12-2. From there, the Beach were in the driver's seat as they cruised to a 25-8 victory.

Long Beach State was led by three double-figure scorers in Kashauna Williams (18 kills), Katie Kennedy (10 kills), and Lovett (10 kills). Lovett hit .474 to lead the team, while adding seven digs, and the team's lone ace.

Williams' 18 kills came on a .400 attack percentage in another solid outing by the junior outside hitter. She also contributed four blocks and two digs, while Kennedy added a season-high six blocks and three digs.

Sophomore setter Tia Chavira paced the offense as she finished the match with a double-double (36 assists, 16 digs), while adding two kills and as many blocks.

Defensively, sophomore libero Nicole Hoff logged 12 digs, while freshman middle blocker Kameron Bacon posted a career-high eight blocks at the net.

Cal State Fullerton's Gabrielle Barcelos led the way with eight kills and three blocks, while setter Elizabeth Schuster concluded the game with 21 assists and six digs, and Julia Crawford added 12 digs to go along with five kills.
