Due to a schedule change, the Beach will play FC Golden State on Monday, a member of the WPSL.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State women's soccer will now play their Monday exhibition against FC Golden State at George Allen Field. The adjustment in scheduling is due to health and safety protocols.
The game is set for a 7:00 p.m. start time and can be followed via live stats. There will also be a 'Beach is Back' event leading up to kickoff beginning at 5:30 p.m. celebrating the first full capacity crowd at a Long Beach State athletic event in 18 months.
A member of the Women's Premier Soccer League, FC Golden State finished third in the Western Conference with a 5-2-1 record. Their summer roster consisted of NCAA Division I athletes, including six current or former LBSU athletes.
Among the six Beach players is former All-American Nadia Link, who played in the black and gold from 2009-12. Current student-athletes, Kayla Cannon, Nadiyah Siqueiros, and Sara Ybarra also played for FC Golden State during the offseason.
Long Beach State opens the regular season with six straight matches on the road beginning Thursday, Aug. 19 with a non-conference matchup at CSUN. Their first regular season match at George Allen Field will be Sep. 16 against Montana.
