CLE ELUM, Wash. –
At the end of the first round at the Cle Elum NCAA Regional, the Long Beach State men's golf team sits in 10th place with a 4-over par as the Beach are led by sophomore Isaac Rodea who is tied for fourth with a 3-under par.

As a team, Long Beach State shot a 288 for 4-over par on the first day of action at the Cle Elum Regional hosted by Washington. Top-seeded Wake Forest and San Francisco are tied at the top of the leaderboard with a 278 for 6-under par.

Washington's Petr Hruby and San Francisco's Christoffer Palsson lead the way after the opening round as both fired a 66 for 5-under par on the first day.

Individually, Rodea led the way with a 68 for 3-under par in the first round. The San Diego, Calif., native recorded seven birdies, notching back-to-back birdies on holes 4 and 5, as well as 15 and 16. He currently sits in a tie for fourth place and is just two strokes out of first.

Senior Hunter Epson continued his consistent level of play on the first day of action at the NCAA Regional as he shot even with par (71) to finish the first round in a tie for 26th place. Epson turned in his best performances at holes 8 and 14 as he birdied both.

Rounding out the remainder of the Beach lineup are Tyler Schafer (+2), Hunter Reed (+5), and Clay Seeber (+7) who are tied for 43rd, 63rd, and 70th place, respectively, after the first 18 holes.

Long Beach State will tee off on Tuesday, May 18 at 9:15 on the back nine to start the second round at the Cle Elum Regional. Fans wishing to catch all the LBSU action, can follow live stats via GolfStat.com.
