LBSU Women's Hoops Closes out the Regular Season at UC Irvine on ESPN3
The Long Beach State women's basketball team looks to snap its six-game losing streak this weekend during the Black and Blue Rivalry against UC Irvine on Friday, March 5 and Saturday, March 6. Both games will tip off at 4 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN 3.

About the Beach
• Long Beach State heads into the final weekend of the regular season with an 11-7 overall record after having dropped its last six contests.
• The Beach are currently in third place in the Big West Conference standings with a 10-6 league record.
• LBSU is looking for its first victory since Feb. 6 when the Beach defeated UC Santa Barbara, 70-55, to extend their winning streak to 10 games.
• Long Beach State boasts three players who are averaging double figures. Leading that group is Justina King with 13.8 points per game, while Naomi Hunt is second on the squad with 10.9, and Jasmine Hardy is hot on her heels with 10.7.
• In addition to leading the Beach in scoring, King also leads the team with 66 assists. She tallied a new career-high nine in the final game of the series against UC Santa Barbara. King is also the team leader in steals with 38.
• Hunt leads the squad with 25 made three-point field goals. She has now amassed 135 three-point field goals in her career to rank fifth all-time at Long Beach State.
• Hardy is shooting 45.5 percent from the field and has made 35-of-41 free throws. Additionally, she contributes 5.8 rebounds per game to go along with 21 steals, 11 assists, and four blocks.
Kristyna Jeskeova has been on point for the Beach as she leads the team with 7.4 rebounds per game and 14 blocks. Additionally, Jeskeova averages 4.4 points per game to go along with 37 steals, and 20 assists.
• As a team, Long Beach State is shooting 39.4 percent from the field and averaging 63.3 points per game. The Beach has held their opponents to 59.1 points per game on 40.9 percent shooting.
• The Beach still remain a strong defensive team as Long Beach State leads the Big West with 11.2 steals per game, while forcing opponents in to 18.1 turnovers per game.
• Long Beach State has officially changed the nickname for all sports other than baseball to Beach with the NCAA. Please do not refer to LBSU basketball as the 49ers.

Scouting UC Irvine
• UC Irvine brings a 12-7 overall record into the final regular season series against Long Beach State.
• The Anteaters are 10-3 in the Big West which is good for second place in the standings.
• UCI has won four of its last five contests, with its lone loss coming last Friday at UC San Diego, 66-63.
• Kayla Williams is UCI's leading scorer with 15.1 points per game. Williams leads a trio of double-figure scorers in Sophia Locandro (10.7 ppg) and Chloe Webb (10.6 ppg).
• In addition to averaging 10.6 points per game, Webb also leads the team in rebounding with 7.6 boards per game to go along with 24 steals, 21 assists, and five blocks.
• Williams, meanwhile, has dished out 86 assists to lead the team while also contributing 3.5 rebounds per game, a team-best 51 steals, and two blocks.
• In addition to being the team's second leading scorer, Locandro leads the Anteaters in blocks with 18. She also adds 5.2 rebounds per game, 14 steals and 11 assists.
• Overall, UC Irvine is shooting 39.6 percent from the field and averaging 65.6 points per game.
• The Anteaters have given up an average of 63.1 points per game on 39.1 percent shooting.
• Defensively, UCI has posted 2.4 blocks per game and is averaging 9.3 steals per game.

The Series: The Beach vs. The Anteaters
Long Beach State and UC Irvine will meet for the 77th and 78th times in program history this weekend. In the all-time series, the Beach holds a 59-17 advantage. However, last season, the two teams split the series as LBSU claimed the game in Irvine, Calif., 56-46, on Jan. 25, before the Anteaters took the game in Long Beach, Calif., 70-61, on Feb. 20. 

Defensively Strong
The Beach's defense has been well-established as LBSU has lead the Big West in steals multiple times over the last several seasons. That continues to hold true as Long Beach State's average of 11.2 steals per game are tops in the league once again. Additionally, the Beach rank 11th in the nation in steals per game. Leading the way for the Beach in steals is Justina King who has amassed 38 steals thus far. King leads a trio of Beach players who rank in the top 10 in the Big West in steals per game as King is fourth, while Kristyna Jeskeova is fifth with 2.1 steals per game, and Ma'Qhi Berry is sixth with 2.0.

King is Queen
Junior guard Justina King is the Beach's leading scorer with 13.8 points per game. She also leads Long Beach State with 66 assists and 38 steals. When playing against UC Santa Barbara, King averaged a whopping 7.5 assists per game as she tallied six helpers on Friday, then came back on Saturday and dished out a career-high nine. On the year, she averages 3.7 assists per game which is good for 10th in league stats.

Hardy Makes it Look Easy
Junior Jasmine Hardy turned in a career-performance last weekend against Hawaii as the Santa Clarita, Calif., native poured in a career-best 24 points to go along with nine rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block. She connected on 8-of-12 field goals for a 66.7 field goal percentage, and was 3-for-4 from long distance. With each passing game, Hardy has continued to flourish. She is currently averaging 10.7 points per game, 5.8 rebounds per game, while having racked up 21 steals, 11 assists, and four blocks.

Czech Her Out
Kristyna Jeskeova, who hails from Jablonec Nad Nisou, Czech Republic has seemed to settle into her role cleaning up the glass. Jeskeova has led the Beach in rebounding in 10 games thus far and has reached double-figures in seven games. Jeskeova has recorded two double-doubles on the year and also is second on the squad with 37 steals to average 2.1 per game, which is good for fourth in the conference. She also averages 4.4 points per game while leading the team with 14 blocks. Her 0.8 blocks per game rank her sixth in the Big West.

Berry Good
The versatile Ma'Qhi Berry has been a key component for the Beach as she has consistently contributed on both sides of the ball in each game. She is averaging 9.2 points per game with 3.3 rebounds per game. Berry has also totaled 39 assists and 32 steals. Her 2.0 steals per game rank her sixth in the Big West. Most recently, Berry turned in back-to-back double-figure showings against Hawaii as she tallied 16 points on Friday, before registering 12 on Saturday. Additionally, Berry totaled 13 rebounds with six on Friday and a season-high seven boards on Saturday.

In the Hunt
Naomi Hunt is the Beach's leader in made three-pointers as she has amassed 25 thus far and has now accumulated 135 made threes in her career to take sole possession of fifth place all-time at Long Beach State. Although she is known for her sharp shooting from long distance, Hunt has also contributed in many other ways. In addition to averaging 10.9 points per game, Hunt also averages 4.1 rebounds per game, while registering 21 assists, 23 steals, and one block this season. 

She's Got it Down Pat
Freshman guard Patricia Chung earned her first collegiate start at UC San Diego on January 29 and made the most of it as she scored a career-high 15 points in back-to-back games to lead the Beach to their eighth- and ninth-straight victories. In her rookie season, Chung has averaged 7.2 points per game, 2.9 rebounds per game, while adding 16 assists, and 13 steals. 

Ki Component
Kianna Hamilton-Fisher has been a key component to the Beach's success this season. After redshirting a year ago due to an injury, Hamilton-Fisher has come back in a big way. Against UC Davis, Hamilton-Fisher poured in a season-high 14 points as she made five field goals and connected on two three-pointers. She is averaging 5.2 points per game, 3.1 rebounds per game, and has totaled 21 steals, 19 assists, and three blocks on the year. 

Next Up
Long Beach State will find out its seeding in the Big West Conference Tournament following the conclusion of Saturday's league games. The Big West Tournament will be held Tuesday, March 9 - Saturday, March 13 in Las Vegas, Nev.
