Tyler Schafer leads the way for Long Beach State with 1-over par
LA QUINTA, Calif. – After two days of action at The Prestige Invitational, Long Beach State holds steady in 11th place with an 11-over par showing.
The Beach are tops among Big West programs as Long Beach State leads host UC Davis by 12 strokes and Cal Poly by 13. The Aggies are tied for 20th and the Mustangs are in 22nd place.
No. 5 Pepperdine leads the way in the competitive tournament which is being played at the Greg Norman Golf Course at PGA West in La Quinta, Calif. The Waves are shooting 8-under par and are three strokes ahead of No. 3 Arizona State (-5) and No. 11 Arizona (-5) which are tied for second. Rounding out the top five at The Prestige are North Carolina (E) and No. 17 SMU (+1).
Junior Tyler Schafer is the Beach's top performer as the product out of Long Beach, Calif., is shooting 1-over par and sits in a tie for 25th place. Schafer shot a 73 for 2-over par in the second round to continue at a steady pace for LBSU.
Sophomore Clay Seeber improved in the second round by four strokes moving up to 34th place from 69th. Seeber birdied on five holes and shot an eagle on hole nine to finish 1-under in the second round.
