LA QUINTA, Calif. – The first round of The Prestige saw Long Beach State go up against some of the top Division I Men's Golf programs in the country and at the end of the day, LBSU was in a tie for 11th after shooting 5-over par. The Prestige is being held at the Greg Norman Golf Course at PGA West in La Quinta, Calif., and is hosted by UC Davis and Stanford.

The 24-team tournament saw only four teams finish under-par on the first day of competition as No. 3 Arizona State leads the way with 8-under par. No. 5 Pepperdine (-3), North Carolina (-2), No. 11 Arizona (-1), and No. 17 SMU (+1) round out the top five.

Long Beach State, meanwhile, sits ahead of a pair of nationally ranked programs in No. 19 San Diego State which is in 15th with 6-over par, and No. 16 Texas Tech which is in 21st with 9-over. The Beach are tied along with TCU, Oregon and Iowa State as all four programs are 5-over after 18 holes.
