Justina King Reaches 1,000 Points As Women’s Basketball Rolls 61-38 On The Road At Boise State

King led all scorers with 16 points while become the 26th player at Long Beach State to score 1,000 career points.
BOISE, Idaho – Justina King scored a game-high 16 points, passing 1,000 career points at the Beach in the process as Long Beach State controlled the action on the road, cruising past Boise State 61-38 Saturday afternoon.
Long Beach State (2-0) had a dominant defensive performance, holding Boise State (0-1) under 40 points on 33 percent shooting while forcing the Broncos into 22 turnovers leading to 28 points on the night as well as shooting 2-of-17 from three.
King passed the 1,000 point milestone early in the third quarter, becoming the 26th player to reach 1,000 points in her Long Beach State career with most of the rest of the season still to play.
Boise State took an early lead as the Long Beach State offense took a while to get started in the first road game of the year. Myrrah Joseph came off the bench for LBSU and provided a spark, scoring six points in the first quarter as Long Beach State took the lead before the end of the quarter 14-12.
Long Beach State never trailed again, extending that lead to 10 points in the second quarter at 27-17 on the way to at 27-19 lead, holding the Broncos to just seven points in the quarter.
The third quarter featured more of the same as the Beach extended their lead to 14 points, and The Beach closed out the game on a 9-0 run to pick up the win in convincing fashion.
Long Beach State returns home to the Walter Pyramid for their next two games, hosting Seattle at 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 18 and Santa Clara on Sunday, November 21.
