NORTHRIDGE, Calif. –
The Long Beach State women's volleyball team got back on the winning track with a 3-1 [25-11, 25-20, 20-25, 25-20] victory over CSUN on Saturday night at the Matadome.

With the win, the Beach improve to 8-9 overall and 2-4 in Big West Conference action, while the Matadors drop to 2-14 on the year and 1-5 in league play.

Long Beach State got off to a strong start as the Beach hit a whopping .481 in the first set to blow by the Matadors. The Beach held the Matadors to a .000 attack percentage in the frame as LBSU cruised to a 25-11 victory.

The Beach used that momentum to jump out to a 3-0 lead to start the second set. However, CSUN managed to get back into the game and after a 4-1 run, tied the score at 15-15. Despite, the Matadors evening the score, the Beach were unfazed and jumped back out in front 19-15 after rattling off four-straight points of their own. From there, LBSU led the rest of the way and came away with a 25-20 win.

Once again, Long Beach State took a quick 3-0 lead, but this time, CSUN would battle back several times and fight LBSU through several times before taking the third set, 25-20.

After having dropped the fourth set, Long Beach State got back into the swing of things and hit .394 in the fourth set. However, the frame began as a back and forth affair, before LBSU used a 5-1 run to take a 12-10 lead and never looked back. The Beach held the lead the rest of the way and won the set and match, 25-20.

Kashauna Williams led all scorers with 11 kills, while adding four blocks and three digs. Erykah Lovett finished with a double-double as she racked up 10 kills and 14 digs to go along with three total blocks, and one ace. Katie Kennedy rounded out the double-digit scorers for the Beach as she tallied 10 kills on a .368 attack percentage, while adding a pair of blocks.

Tia Chavira set a solid game for the Beach as she dished out 41 assists to go along with nine digs and five kills on a .444 clip.

Defensively, Nicole Hoff logged 12 digs in the back row, while Kameron Bacon and Miranda Canez each posted five blocks at the net. Bacon contributed on both sides of the ball as she added nine kills on a .600 attack percentage, while Canez also registered eight kills.

CSUN's Taylor Orshoff led the Matadors with 10 kills, while Madison Klungel and Carisa Barron shared setter duties with 12 and 19 assists, respectively. Makayla Bradford finished the match with nine digs and three aces, while Klungel led the blocking defense with three blocks.

Long Beach State returns to the Walter Pyramid to host UC San Diego on Friday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. The match will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
