Day One of the Paintbrush Invitational Halted Due to Darkness

Isaac Rodea fires a hole in one to highlight Long Beach State’s action on the first day of the Paintbrush Invitational
PARKER, Colo. – The first day of the Paintbrush Invitational got off to a solid start, but action was suspended due to darkness before the second round could be completed.
At the end of the first round, Long Beach State was in a tie for seventh place with Santa Clara as both the Beach and the Broncos were 14-over par in the competitive tournament, which was taking place at the Colorado Golf Course.
The highlight of the day for the Beach came in second round on the 17th hole as sophomore Isaac Rodea sank a hole-in-one on a par 3 as Rodea fired a 189-yard drive for the eagle.
Ian Gilligan, a freshman out of Reno, Nev., made his collegiate debut at the Paintbrush Invitational and shot an even 72 in the first round to lead the Beach. He birdied five holes including a pair of back-to-back holes at 10 and 11 as well as 17 and 18.
Senior Jack Ainscough who hails from Durham, United Kingdom, shot a 73 in the first round for 1-over par.
At the end of the first round, Gilligan was in a tie for seventh and Ainscough was in a tie for 12th.
The second round will continue Tuesday, Oct. 5 at 8:45 a.m. (MT), before the teams begin the final round. Fans can follow all the action via golfstat.com.
