LBSU Tennis Wraps Up Play at Beach Fall Tennis Tournament

The Beach had four singles wins and a doubles win to wrap up the tournament.
LONG BEACH, Calif. - LBSU Tennis wrapped up the final day of competition at the Beach Fall Tennis Tournament on Sunday, with four wins in singles play and a doubles pair taking home a win.
In doubles action Arina Babkova and Zuzanna Szczepanska earned a hard-fought win in the third-place match in flight B, 6-3 in which they took control early and never looked back. Sheena Masuda and Nikola Homolkova competed in a tightly contested match in the flight A doubles final, but fell 6-2. The pairing is now 3-1 on the year. Zara Lennon and Claire Le Du also took part in flight A. The duo played in the third-place match but lost a back-and-forth contest 6-3.
In singles play, the Beach had all seven athletes competing in consolation matches. LBSU set the tone early with three athletes earning straight sets wins. Andreea Ciornei won a tightly contested match in straight sets, 7-6 (5), 6-4. Lennon dominated her match, also winning in straight sets 6-3, 6-2. Masuda also continued the trend for the Beach, with a 6-1, 6-4 straight sets win. In the last match of the day Babkova battled through the heat and won an action-packed three set match 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 to earn the Beach their fourth singles win of the day.
Also in singles action, Le Du battled and took her match to a decisive third set, where she was edged out 6-3, 3-6, 6-3. In addition, Szczepanska fell 6-2, 6-2 in her match and Homolkova lost 6-1, 6-1.
LBSU Tennis will be back on the court in two weeks down in San Diego at the ITA Southwest Regionals on Oct. 21-24.
