Beach Tennis Welcomes Two More for 2021

Arina Babkova and Claire Le Du will be freshman at Long Beach State in the Fall
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State head coach Jenny Hilt-Costello has announced the signing of two incoming freshman in Arina Babkova and Claire Le Du. The pair will join the Beach Tennis program for the 2020-21 season.
Babkova holds a Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) of 10 and a career high ITF World Tennis junior tennis ranking of 641. The 5-foot-9 lefty is a native of Dubna, Russia, located just north of Moscow.
Le Du is a native of Normandy, France, where she holds a 0 French tennis rating and a 9 UTR. The winner of several French junior tournaments, Le Du has reached the quarterfinals in her age group of the French Open at Roland Garros.
"We are excited to add Arina and Claire to our team this fall," said Hilt-Costello. "Both have impressive games and have big potential. They are strong students as well. We look forward to welcoming them this Fall to our Beach Tennis family."
The duo will join the Beach for the 2020-21 season that returns three seniors and a junior from the 2019 Big West Conference championship team.
The Beach were 8-4 this season and No. 65 in the Massey Ratings when play was halted in March due to COVID-19.
