Harris, Reinking Selected As Big West Scholar-Athletes Of The Year

Nicci Reinking of Beach Volleyball and Kent Harris of Men’s Track and Field were chosen as Long Beach State’s best representatives of combined athletic and academic success for the year of 2019.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Nicci Reinking and Kent Harris have been recognized as Big West Scholar-Athletes as announced by the conference office. Reinking is a junior on the Beach Volleyball team, while Kent Harris is a senior on the Men's Track and Field squad.
The Big West Scholar-Athlete of the Year program recognizes one male and one female student-athlete from each institution who best represent both academic and athletic success over the course of the preceding season.
Nicci Reinking earned first-team All-Big West honors along with her partner Mari Molina in Beach Volleyball, leading Long Beach State to a No. 12 National Ranking and a 21-11 overall record last season. Reinking's success matched the team's, also posting a 21-11 record as an individual, going 6-2 in the top flight and 15-9 at No. 2 on the year.
A member of the University Honors Program, Reinking carries a 3.97 ERA while majoring in Computer Engineering and has made the President's List five times.
Kent Harris continues to be one of the leaders of the Track and Field Program. A two-time team captain, Harris earned All-Big West honors in three events in 2019 as the runner-up in the 200m dash as well as in both the 4x100m and 4x400m relays. Harris has also qualified for the NCAA West Preliminaries in back-to-back seasons, qualifying with the Long Beach State 4x100m relay team after earning a spot in the 100m dash in 2018.
Majoring in Industrial Design, Harris currently has a 3.46 ERA and is a four-time Dean's List selection.
