A Letter From Andy Fee

LB Nation,

I am excited to tell you that our Men's and Women's Basketball teams will return to the Beach this week to begin outdoor workouts in preparation for their upcoming seasons. Keep an eye out as we are working to finalize our non-conference schedules in the near future. We will share this exciting news with fans and community as soon as the ink is dry!

Our return to Basketball training and practice concludes a two-week pause in athletic (and academic) activities that was instituted after the university learned of several new cases of COVID-19 affecting CSULB students. While we were, of course, concerned and disappointed by this turn of events, we have known from the outset that the pandemic is a fluid situation and that we must remain both flexible and cautious during these uncertain times.

We have learned some valuable lessons which I believe will help us going forward. We will continue to prioritize the health and well-being of our players, coaches, campus, and community when making any determinations for athletic activity. For the immediate future fans, media and all others are prohibited from attending practices until public health officials determine we can welcome more individuals back to campus.

I want to thank you for your understanding and patience. This has been a tough time for Beach Athletics — and for everyone who loves or is connected with college athletics — so the enthusiastic support of our loyal fans is very important to us. Thank you, especially, for being there for our student-athletes when they needed you most. I know I speak for all of us at Long Beach State when I say that we miss you and can't wait until we're able to come together to cheer on all of our talented teams!
