The Beach will turn to a veteran group to start the season.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Women's Golf begins their 2019-20 season starting on Monday, September 9 as the squad travels to Woodbury, Minn. to participate in the Minnesota Invitational.
Hosted by the Golden Gophers, the 14-team field also includes Notre Dame, Kansas, Missouri, Kentucky, Louisville, and Georgia as well as a pair of other California schools in San Jose State and San Francisco.
The two-time Big West champions will be relying on a trio of seniors to help guide the team as the Beach begins the 2019-20 season. Maria Davis, Euna Pak and Holland Shourds have all been recognized as All-Big West selections in their careers, and are looking to shine in their final season. Davis is a reigning first-team All-Big West selection, while Shouds has been a consistent performer and Pak is looking to deliver on the promise that she's shown in her career.
The remainder of the lineup for the opening tournament will be filled by a pair of sophomores, as Hannah Ko and Hunter Pate will look to make the next step in their progression and make a mark in their second season at the Beach.
The tournament will also be a showcase for Assistant Coach Mackenzie Raim, who will be running the team in the absence of head coach Joey Cerulle who is currently on paternity leave.
Long Beach State will then return to California and continue to welcome in their three newcomers in Chloe Carraway, Vanessa Richiani and Khameryn Utu in their bid to crack the lineup for the team's next competition.
Held at Prestwick Golf Club in Woodbury, Minn., the Minnesota Invitational will consist of two rounds on Monday, September 9 followed by a final round on Tuesday, September 10. Live scoring throughout the tournament will be available at www.golfstat.com.
