Long Beach State’s season opener at Arizona was cancelled Thursday night due to persistent lightning strikes in Tucson.
TUCSON, Ariz. – Long Beach State women's soccer had its season opener against Arizona cancelled due to lightning on Thursday night. The teams were scheduled to play at 6:30 p.m. and attempted to wait out the weather, but the decision was made to call the game at just after 9 p.m.
The teams will attempt to reschedule the game, but there were no details regarding a make-up date as of Thursday night.
The Beach will instead open the 2019 season on George Allen Field, taking on No. 4 UCLA on Sunday night at 6 p.m.
