DES MOINES, Iowa – Courtne' Davis recorded a new personal-best time in the 200m as she represented Long Beach State at the 2019 Toyota USATF Outdoor Championships this past weekend. The recently departed sprinter ran a 23.18 in Sunday's semifinal to finish 11th in the competition.
Â
No woman has ever run a faster 200 while at Long Beach State, and Davis was there competing in her Long Beach State uniform against some of the fastest sprinters in the nation. During Saturday's first round, Davis took third in her heat with a then-PR time of 23.22. That mark was the eighth-fastest time of 23 competitors.
Â
Other LBSU alums were in action in Iowa as well. Heptathlete Riley Cooks placed sixth in her competition and she will be back in action next month, competing for Team USA at the upcoming Pan American Games in Lima, Peru.
Â
On the men's side, former Beach athletes Colin Dunbar and Jason Harrell competed in the field. Dunbar was eighth in the men's hammer throw and Harrell finished 15th in the discus.
