2019-20 Women's Basketball Schedule
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State head coach Jeff Cammon announced the 2019-20 women's basketball schedule on Thursday.
Cammon, who is in his third year at the helm of the program, has put together a competitive slate that features 13 homes games, while pitting the Beach up against eight teams that competed in the postseason a year ago, as well as a pair of road tournaments.
"We're very excited about our 2019-20 schedule," Cammon said. "We wanted it to be a little more balanced than last season, but still with the goal of playing tough competition that will prepare us for the Big West Conference and the postseason.
"We have some heavy hitters away from the Pyramid with UCLA, Cal, and USC. Our biggest game at the Pyramid will be against Oregon, which will probably be in the Top 5 in the country when we face them. We also have a really competitive group of mid-majors that we will face both on the road and at home. It will be tough, but will ultimately make us better.
"We're excited for the season and are working very hard to prepare ourselves. We're looking forward to taking a big step towards our goals."
The Beach open the season on the road at Cal Baptist on Tuesday, Nov. 5, before facing Westcliff in the home opener on Saturday, Nov. 9. LBSU will take on UCLA, which advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16 in 2019, on the road on Thursday, Nov. 14, before welcoming Utah State (Nov. 18) and Loyola Marymount (Nov. 23) to the Walter Pyramid.
Long Beach State will travel north to the Cal Tournament in Berkeley, Calif., on Nov. 29-30, before taking on Santa Clara (Dec. 6) and Seattle (Dec. 8) on the road.
LBSU returns to the Pyramid to host Oregon (Dec. 14), which finished the 2018-19 season ranked No. 7 in the nation after reaching the NCAA Final Four, and Air Force (Dec. 18), before competing in the USC Tournament Dec. 20-21.
The Beach closes out the non-conference season against Bethesda at home on Saturday, Jan. 4, before kicking off Big West Conference action against Cal Poly on Thursday, Jan. 9 at the Walter Pyramid.
Long Beach State travels to Cal State Fullerton (Jan. 11) and UC Davis (Jan. 16), before hosting CSUN (Jan. 18) and Hawai'i (Jan. 23) in Long Beach. The Beach goes up against UC Irvine at the Bren Events Center on Saturday, Jan. 25, before hosting UC Riverside on Thursday, Jan. 30.
The month of February begins with a pair of road games at Hawai'i (Feb. 1) and Cal Poly (Feb. 8). The Beach will then host UC Santa Barbara (Feb. 13), before traveling to UC Riverside (Feb. 15). LBSU welcomes UC Irvine to the Pyramid for a mid-week game on Thursday, Feb. 20, before traveling to CSUN (Feb. 27) and UC Santa Barbara (Feb. 29).
Long Beach State will close out the regular season at home against Cal State Fullerton (March 4) and UC Davis (March 7), the reigning Big West Conference champion, which appeared in the 2019 NCAA Tournament.
LBSU will also host the first round and quarterfinals of the Big West Tournament at the Walter Pyramid March 10-11.
