Vincent Calhoun named Big West Field Athlete of the Week

Vincent Calhoun opens up outdoor season strong in the high jump.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State senior Vincent Calhoun turned in his best collegiate performance over the weekend which earned him the honor of being named Big West Men's Field Athlete of the Week.
The Long Beach State jumper finished first at the Beach Opener and cleared a personal-best mark in the high jump, earning him this week's recognition. In his final jump to clear the bar, the senior leaped to a PR of 7-03 (2.21), the highest jump performed by a member of the program in 15 years.
The 2017 NCAA All-American set a new meet record for the Beach Opener, and also holds the number one spot in the nation after the opening weekend for the outdoor season.
Calhoun's performance and effort has moved him to the third spot in the Beach record book.
Calhoun and the Beach will be back in action on March 16 at the Baldy Castillo Invitational in Tempe, Arizona.
