Long Beach State has added Nikola Homolkova to the women’s tennis program for the 2020-21 season, as the talented player from the Czech Republic recently signed her National Letter of Intent with the Beach.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State head coach Jenny Hilt-Costello announced the signing of Nikola Homolkova, who signed her National Letter of Intent (NLI) to join the Beach Tennis program for the 2020-21 season.
Â
"We are thrilled to have Nikola joining our team next fall," said Hilt-Costello. "She has impressed us through every step of the recruiting process. She is a talented player, a strong student, and a great all-around person. She is going to be a great addition to our Beach Tennis family."
Â
Homolkova is a native of Pelhrimov in the Czech Republic, where she holds the No. 60 national ranking among women's tennis players. She was also recently awarded the District Sportsperson of the Year award.
Â
On the court, Homolkova recently won one of the eight district tournaments across the Czech Republic to reach the final tournament, which is open to the Top 32 players in the country. In the past year, she reached the exclusive final tournament in both the indoor and outdoor seasons. Homolkova currently holds a strong Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) of 10.35, placing her in the upper half of the 1.00-16.50 scale used to assess players at all levels across the globe.
Â
Homolkova will join the Beach for the 2020-21 season, bolstering a squad that has just one departing senior (Natalia Munoz) currently on the roster.
