Danelle Arigbabu, Patricia Chung, and Savannah Tucker signed NLIs to play at Long Beach State
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State Women's Basketball Head Coach Jeff Cammon announced the signing of three new recruits for the 2020-21 season. The signing class consists of a trio of incoming freshmen in Danelle Arigbabu, Patricia Chung, and Savannah Tucker.
"We're very excited about our 2020 recruiting class," Cammon stated. "These young ladies bring in much needed size, speed, and toughness – all characteristics that will help us continue to grow our program."
Danelle Arigbabu
Fr. | C | 6-3 | Frankfurt, Germany
Arigbabu comes to the Beach from Frankfurt, Germany where the 6-foot-3 center competed on for the U17 Junior National Team and helped her squad win the German Championship in 2014 in Berlin, before going on to play for the Federal Youth Camp in 2015. The tall post player is known for her defensive skills as she looks to make an immediate impact for Long Beach State.
Cammon on Arigbabu:
"Danelle's size, strength, and IQ will allow her to make an impact right away. She loves the game and really wants to be good. More importantly, Danelle is an incredible young lady. We're very lucky to have her."
Patricia Chung
Fr. | G | 5-6 | Monterey Park, Calif. | Mark Keppel HS
Chung is a 5-foot-6 point guard who comes to Long Beach State after a three-year prep career at Mark Keppel High School. While playing with the Aztecs, Chung was a two-time First Team All-League selection who averaged 20.9 points per game, 10.2 rebounds per game, 6.5 steals per game, and 6.1 assists per game in her junior season. Her performance on the court earned her an All-Area First Team selection as well as a Second Team All-CIF honor. Following the 2018-19 season, Chung was named to the Cal Hi-Sports All-State First Team (Division II).
Cammon on Chung:
"Pat is a gym rat! She's a scoring point guard that has the ability to put the ball in the basket while also elevating others around her. She comes from a winning culture and knows how to win. She's an amazing young lady and will be an asset to our program."
Savannah Tucker
Fr. | G | 5-9 | Fresno, Calif. | Clovis North HS
Tucker rounds out the LBSU recruiting class as the 5-foot-9 shooting guard brings a wealth of talent and experience to the Beach. The Fresno, Calif., native excels on both sides of the ball as she was named TRAC Co-MVP as she enters her senior season at Clovis North High School as the school's all-time points leader. She set the school's scoring average record with 17.8 points per game as a sophomore, then bested her own mark the following year with an average of 20.1 points per game in her junior season. Tucker also holds the school record for most points scored in a game with 38 to go along with the single-game blocks record (5). She was named to the Cal-Hi Sports All-State First Team after helping lead the Broncos to a 25-6 overall record and a 9-1 mark in the TRAC as the squad went on to bring home the first girls' basketball TRAC title in school history. Tucker is a 2017-18 First Team All-League selection, a two-time First Team All-State honoree for the Class of 2020, as well as a Second Team All-State Overall selection.
Cammon on Tucker:
"Savannah is another incredible young lady. She's a natural leader and a competitor. She has exceptional speed and the unique ability to score the ball in various ways. Like Pat, Savannah comes from a winning culture and knows how to win. We're very excited about Savannah and her future here at Long Beach State."
